Propagation by means of cuttings and grafting has a dramatic impact on the plant. Cuttings need to form new roots and vascular bundles have to fit together properly when grafting. These processes are controlled by hormones. This is perfected in tissue culture. However, the ‘usual’ cuttings and grafting methods remain very important to the horticultural sector.
